6 ΓΥΝΑΙΚΕΣ ΠΟΥ ΓΟΗΤΕΥΣΑΝ ΤΟΝ ΗΡΟΔΟΤΟ

The present project involves the literary ‘version’ of my doctoral thesis centring on the female presence of Herodotus’ History. Six women parade before us and courteously introduce themselves being endowed with special features that rightfully earn them their prominent place in the voluminous work of the historian from Halicarnassus. We shall find out details about their life course as well as about their often grim activities. As their story unfolds, it occasionally imbues us with joy, genius, pain or heroism. Inadvertently, all six will be compared to other famous feminine figures in ancient Greek letters, in an effort to draw valuable conclusions on female behaviour in humankind. Six women and six stories; they offer the reader the chance to reflect, following the realization that the past, even the remote one, has always been repeatedly present.
