The Riddle Of Xenophon

The book attempts to solve the riddle of Xenophon. The problem is threefold: Its main dimension is the determination of the route of the Descent of “Myrion” (ten thousand men) from the Karduchon mountains to Trapezounta. The solution offered by the proposed route must be such that it satisfies the other two dimensions of the problem. On the one hand, to determine the dates of all events from the departure from Sardis to the battle at Cunaxa in Babylonia and the arrival at the Black Sea, in a way that leaves no gaps in the dating. On the other hand, to determine all the distances in the total route (Sardis-Kunaxa-Black Sea) in agreement with the data provided by Xenophon himself. By satisfying all the above three dimensions of the problem, the solution of Xenophon's riddle will obviously allow the determination of the distance in kilometers that the “Myrioi” traveled during their Ascent and Descent.
