The present project involves the literary \u2018version\u2019 of my doctoral thesis centring on the female presence of Herodotus\u2019 History. Six women parade before us and courteously introduce themselves being endowed with special features that rightfully earn them their prominent place in the voluminous work of the historian from Halicarnassus. We shall find out details about their life course as well as about their often grim activities. As their story unfolds, it occasionally imbues us with joy, genius, pain or heroism. Inadvertently, all six will be compared to other famous feminine figures in ancient Greek letters, in an effort to draw valuable conclusions on female behaviour in humankind.
