Maria Kalatzi

Maria Kalatzi is from Greece and she lives in Athens. She is an icon painter by profession alongside being involved in poetry and literature. She lives in Athens and she is a coordinator of the book loving group "Books of Love, Nectar of Life".
She is the author of five Greek novels. She is particularly fond of fantasy and mystery books. The metaphysical element is present in all her novels. She originally appeared in the Greek literature scene with her novel ‘Power of the Soul’ (2007) which was republished in 2022 with the title "Believe in Me". This was followed by ‘The Haunted Mansion’ (2008) which was republished in 2021 with the title “The Spirit of the Duchess” (2021) and it is her first book to be translated into the English language. Then followed the ‘Treasure of the Water’ (2016) and ‘The lake with the fairies’ (2019). Her fifth novel ‘On the waves of destiny’ was released in 2023. In the same year she published her first illustrated children's fairytale book with the title "Poetic Fairy Tales, Three educational Stories".
Her short story "The ghost of the tower" was distinguished and included in the book "Supernatural Phenomena in Greek Medieval Castles" (2023). Her poems have been included in the anthology "Poetic paths" by Ostria publications and the "Literary calendar 2023" by Kefalos publications. Her poem “In love’s dew” was distinguished in the seventh poetry competition of the Greece-Cyprus Cultural Association organized in honor of the writer Alki Zea.
Her hagiography of "Saint Procopius the horseman" received the first prize in the pan-Hellenic art competition and it’s included in a collector's album by Kefalos publications. The lyrics of the song "In the storm of our life" contained in her fifth novel "On the waves of destiny" have been set to music.
