Iskan Selim

Iskan Selim is a Greek athlete and martial arts teacher, born in Xanthi in 1984. He has been a five-time world champion in self-defense and has even been awarded twice by the White House and US President Barack Obama.
His five world firsts are the following:
1. Germany - Hannover - May 2015: Gold award of the presidential champion award (by Barack Obama - president of the United States). Gold Belt - White House Award.
2. Poland - Kraków - April 2018: Ηall of Fame - Best Self Defense Master of the year 2018 (recognised by international martial arts - Ηall of Fame).
3. Germany - Hannover - May 2019: World Champion in self-defense - Golden Dragon - Award from the White House.
Poland - Krakow - December 2019: World Champion in self-defense. He was proclaimed the "King of Self-Defense" (Krool Samobroony).
5. Poland - Krakow - December 2021: World Champion in self-defense. Βudo Βushi. The best of the best. He was voted "Sports Iron Man" by all the judges.
He took his first steps in martial arts starting with Muay Thai at a young age in Germany, where he received major awards in competitions, achieving 28 victories in 29 fights in total. In 2000 he entered the world of Krav Maga and trained for four years in one of the most important schools in Israel. In 2007 he won the title of Master receiving his 5th Dan. In 2009-2011 he went to Samara, Russia, to be trained in the Voin system (Spetsnaz Gru) by the 3rd GRU Spetsnaz Brigade - the elite of military formations under the control of the GRU Military Intelligence Service.
He is the only Krav Maga trainer in Greece recognised by the Israeli Sport Ministry: Wingate Institute. He is also the only recognised trainer in Europe from the Russian "Voin Spetsnaz Gru" combat system designed for the Russian special forces.
He has traveled to the United States four times to enrich his martial arts skills, attending seminars in California at the U.S. Special Operations Special Operations Program (S.O.C.P.). He has also traveled many times to Israel, Germany, Italy, Poland and other countries to meet and exchange views with all the great Krav Maga teachers worldwide.
In 2011 he founded the Krav Maga Viper self-defense system which combines techniques from all the martial arts he has learned during his lifetime.
Today Iskan Selim is considered one of the top examiners in the world with vast experience and is even an instructor at the International Police Organization (I.P.O.).
