GIORGOS KREMMYDAS

Giorgos Kremmidas was born in Kallitsatais, Livadia, Agioi Saranda Prefecture, Northern Epirus, in the year 1956. He is married to the economist Anthoula Angelis and they have four daughters. Life – he tells you – in her philosophy is creativity. A person is inspired by a fantasy, by an event, by stories or some soul touch. With a wealth of words and vision, he composes his work beautifully and harmoniously. If he happens to be a good weaver and composer of concepts, then, with the Greek Language he can fly to the heavens. From this point of view, poetry can be considered Greek regionalism, with words generally permeated with music. And this is the best heritage of our Nation.
Vangelis Vassiliou - the "Palamas" of Northern Epirus - as he calls him, was his teacher and relative... and was the intravenous source of inspiration and encouragement to walk the paths of the art of speech since his early student years.
Then, during his university years, he appeared as a columnist in the Greek and Albanian press.
In 1978, he was awarded first place in the university community, with the short story "I worry". In 1979, on behalf of the Agricultural University of Tirana, he translated "The Citrus Fruits" by Giorgos Androutsos. In 1992 the short story "Don't leave me, my love".
His journalistic career spans almost thirty years in the newspapers "Laiko Vima", "Ta Nea tis Omonias", "Tachydromos tis Epirus" and most recently in "Ellinismos".
In the period 2000-2003 he worked as a radio producer at the local radio station "ALPHA". He recently translated the book by Nikolas Gikopoulos "Smoking - A Global Epidemic". In 2009, he wrote the book "Our Kallitsatais", dedicated to his village and the villages of Northern Epirus.
